I'm from Canada and though it seemed odd I thought it was just another version of road hockey and lacrosse! it's soooo much fun!!! I met some people from Ireland when I was in a hostel and they let me join in with their group and taught me the game. it's hard to serve the ball though hurling isn't that dangerous or extreme... You're not supposed to hit the other players either. it's less violent than rugby or American football really.
